This history is about Imperialism and the strength of some countries and what they did to achieve their high status. In this project, we were expected to create an A3 poster where we compare two imperial colonies- one of our choices and another given one. I chose England and Germany. We had to say the colonies that they conquered, the economical reason they conquered that country, the political reason that they conquered that country, the social reason they conquered it and the environmental reason they conquered it. Finally, we had to write a conclusion and say why colonies expand. This piece of work is significant because I did a great amount of work on my own in a short amount of time. I completed it in one day and it was a single project, so I did everything on my own.
This project is definitely something that I am proud of and it is very significant for me, because I felt that I did pretty well in it because history is definitely not one of my best subjects. I received a good grade for it, I got 5 out of 8 and a 6 out of 8. It is something developmental that helped me reach a new level in the subject and I chose it because it was one of the only assessments we did in history this year.
This work has improved me as a learner in the MYP program, because now I am more able to communicate information. It has helped me organize my time and work efficiently and it has demonstrated that I am capable of comparing two different colonial powers, so now I am more confident in history compared to before. With my new knowledge and skills, I am going to use it in all subjects in every way possible. This is moving me along the path of life because now I understand about our history more and characteristics to make us powerful.
